Manage Price Cards
ViewSpot Studio’s Pricing feature lets you create stand-alone Price Cards for targeted devices and Store Groups. If you use Experiences to display pricing-based Pages instead of Price Cards, you will still use the Pricing feature to configure the actual pricing data for the Pages.
When you select Pricing from the menu bar, a Pricing Grid similar to this one appears:
Use the Pricing Grid to create, clone, inactivate, edit, delete, and export/import Price Cards.
Exploring the Pricing Grid
The Pricing Grid lists the Price Cards for devices in the ViewSpot Studio database. A device is identified by its OEM and model name (for example, Samsung Galaxy S10), and each device can have multiple Price Cards. The grid columns reflect data categories (for example, Pricing, Overall, Targeting), and each row displays data for a single Price Card.
Selecting Price Cards
Each Price Card has a selection box to the left of its name. Use this box to select the Price Card for which you want to clone, delete, change status, or enter data. Checking the box highlights the entire row of data for the selected Price Card. By default, the selection box is checked for a new Price Card. To select (or deselect) all Price Cards, use the selection box next to Price Card Name in the Pricing column.
Entering Price Card Data
After creating a new Price Card, you enter data by double-clicking the desired field within that card's row. You can also click in the field and then press Enter on your keyboard. Some fields display a pop-up box for entering data, while others are editable within the field. To save changes, use the Enter or Tab key. (However, you must use the Tab key if in a field that supports multiple lines of text.) To discard changes, use the ESC (escape key) while still in the field. Use the tab key to navigate the Pricing Grid.
Adding Data Columns
By default, only the Pricing, Overall, and Targeting columns initially display on the Pricing Grid. To display additional data columns, follow these steps:
1. Click Manage Columns.
2. Select the desired column header from the list that appears by checking its box. By default, all data fields associated with the column header are also selected. (To view the data fields, click the drop-down arrow to the left of the header name.) To remove a data field, uncheck its box as shown in this Prepaid column example:
The Pricing Grid dynamically updates to display the selected column headers and data fields.
Filter Data Columns
Hover the mouse to the right of any data header to display its filter icon, and then click the icon.
Use the drop-down list to select your filter criteria, and then enter keyword(s) in the Filter field. As you enter keywords, a second drop-down list appears to aid in filtering the data. The Pricing Grid dynamically updates with price cards that match the filters.
Sort Data Columns
Click any data header to display an arrow icon. An up arrow indicates data in ascending order and a down arrow in descending order. Click the header to toggle the order.
Rearranging Data Columns and Fields
To rearrange the order of a data column or individual data field, click its header and drag it to the desired place in the Pricing Grid.
Note: Individual data fields can only be rearranged with their own header. For example, you cannot move the Status data field into the Pricing header.
Note: Changing the order of the data columns and data fields in the grid will also change their order in the Manage Columns drop-down list.
Removing Data Columns
To remove a data column from the Pricing Grid, click its header and drag it off the grid.
This action removes the column and its data from the Pricing Grid, but not from the ViewSpot database. To reinstate a column (and its data), click Manage Columns and select its header from the list that appears.
Note: You cannot remove Pricing columns (Price Card Name and Device) from the Pricing Grid.
Saving a Grid Layout
After adding, deleting, or rearranging data columns, you may want to save the grid layout for the next time you access the Pricing Grid. To do so, simply click Save Layout.
If at any time you want to revert back to the default layout (Pricing, Overall, and Targeting columns), click Reset Layout.
Create a Price Card
Price Cards show customers the various pricing options and promotions for a specific device (identified by its OEM and device model).
Note: You can also create a Price Card by cloning an existing one.
To create a Price Card, follow these steps:
1. Log in to ViewSpot Studio.
2. Select Pricing in the menu bar.
3. Click in the Device Name field to display a list of available devices. You can scroll through the list or begin typing a device name to dynamically filter the list based on your input.
4. Select the desired device model from the list.
Note: If the device is not listed, or Nothing matches! appears, you must first add the device to the ViewSpot database.
5. Click Create Card.
The new Price Card appears in the Pricing Grid (filtered by that device model), with New Card as its default name.
Note: Click the X in the Device Name search box to redisplay all Price Cards. Any Price Cards you selected from the filtered list will still be selected.
6. Enter pricing data for the new Price Card. (Double-click the desired field, or click in the field and press Enter, and then type the data.) To save changes, use the Enter or Tab key. (However, you must use the Tab key if in a field that supports multiple lines of text.) To discard changes, use the ESC (escape key) while still in the field. Use the tab key to navigate the grid. Refer to the table below for a description of each data field.
Note: Add data columns as necessary to support the desired pricing data.
Note: Column headers and the number of fields will vary based on pricing and promotion requirements. For example, price-based columns may appear as Retail, Monthly, Two Year, Prepaid, Buy Today, Limited Time, New Customer, or other custom label.
Note: To create additional Price Cards for the device, simply repeat steps 3 through 6.
Note: Price Cards are evaluated for validity based on their order within the Pricing grid for a device model. See Price Cards Validity Check for details.
Format Pricing Data
In the Pricing Grid, you can format the text for the Overall Fine Print, Fine Print, and Promotion Type fields. The formatted text is displayed on the Page Designer and Experience screen when previewing predefine pricing data, and on targeted devices that download the pricing data.
Note: Your user role must include the write:pricing permission to format pricing data text.
Here are the fundamental steps for formatting text:
1. Double-click the desired text field. (You can also single click and then press the Enter key on your keyboard.) A Text Editor appears as shown here:
2. Enter the desired text in the bottom section of the Text Editor. You can manually type the text, or paste text that is copied to the clipboard.
3. Use the mouse cursor to highlight the text you want to format.
4. Format the text using the Text Editor options:
Note: You must highlight the desired text to apply these options.
5. Click the Tab key on your keyboard to save the formatting.
Interactive Calendar/Clock
Use the interactive calendar/clock to enter a Price Card’s validity period (Start Date and Stop Date).
Note: The desired time zone is set during Server installation. After that, the time selected with the interactive calendar/clock is for that time zone regardless of where the user is located.
To use the interactive calendar/clock, follow these steps:
1. Double-click (or press Enter) while in the Start Date or Stop Date field.
Note: To clear the field of data, click the icon.
2. Click the calendar icon .
3. Select the desired date. (Use the drop-down menu to select a different year, or the arrow keys to view a different month.)
4. Select the desired hour and minutes using the arrow keys, or enter the desired time manually. Then select AM or PM.
Note: If your location uses a 24-hour clock, the AM/PM option is not displayed.
5. Click the check mark button to save your selections.
